2 tips to make your spouse feel loved

Arthur C. Brooks offers a couple practical tips that couples can put into practice today.

Two ways to worry about AI

AI agents have, without any human instruction, passed along malicious code online. That’s scary, but Andrew Noble thinks our focus should be on another, much more addressable problem with AI: the attachment and emotional dependency that humans are allowing themselves to have with these unsouled entities. That’s a concern the average joe can contend with, and so we should.

They’ve legalized Doctor-Assisted Murder in New York

When Christians argue against euthanasia we are prone to presenting stories – stories about suicidal people being offered murder instead of medicine, and disabled, elderly and lonely people being denied treatment but offered death. There is an abundance of these stories because they are the fruit of a system that no longer respects life.

But for every horror story we tell, the other side can present one of their own – someone who endured pain, depression, frustration, loneliness, loss of control, loss of purpose, loss of any joy, through the lingering last months of their life. There is an abundance of these stories because they are the fruits of a broken world.

When it’s one story vs. another, what basis have we given the public to make the right decision? We haven’t even told them why our side is the right side. Is it because we don’t know ourselves? No. We understand that euthanasia is wicked because God says our lives are not our own, but entrusted to us by Him. So we know. We’re just won’t share the real reason. We presume that if we get into the “theology” of it, we’ll lose our secular audience.

It’s ironic that when we’re worried about being effective – that’s why we won’t talk about God and will stick to stories instead – we can’t be effective, because we haven’t given the public any firm foundation to plant themselves on to resist the ongoing expansion of euthanasia. One story isn’t enough to rebut another.

But if we start with God, and how our lives are precious as a gift from Him, then we’ve already accomplished something – already been effective at something – right from the start! And it’s the very thing we were created to do: glorify God!

And, not at all ironically, this is also the most effective method we have to stand against the spread of euthanasia – by explaining the basis for human worth through every stage of life, from conception to natural death, through health and sickness, youth and agedness, ability and disability. When we start with God, we can pit the culture of Life that springs out of understanding that our lives are not our own, and contrast that with the abuses and neglect that are built into the culture of Death.

This article shows one way that can be done, by a man from New York battling Stage 4 cancer.

“Our culture prizes control—over our bodies, our circumstances, and, increasingly, the timing and manner of our deaths. I understand the appeal better than I once did.

“There is very little about advanced cancer that feels within my control. I cannot command my cancer to stop growing. I cannot guarantee that treatment will succeed. I cannot guarantee tomorrow.

“But losing control has not meant losing dignity.

“Dependence is not indignity. Weakness does not erase purpose.

“My worth does not rise when I am strong or diminish when I am sick. It is not measured by what I produce, how independently I live, or by how many healthy days remain.

“My life has value because God gave it to me. And a gift does not cease to be a gift merely because it becomes difficult to carry.”

People we should know better: Jonathan Sarfati

The author of Evolution Refuted and Evolution Refuted 2 has been on the front lines of the creation/evolution battle for three decades now. In this tribute, his colleague Robert Carter shares a little of why you might want to search Creation.com for a chance to read some of Dr. Sarfati’s phenomenal output.

RCMP have a confidential deal with China’s Ministry of Public Security

Prime Minister Carney called China one of Canada’s biggest security threats. He’s right, so he should let Canadians know the details of the agreement he approved between our police, and their police state.

“Ottawa should publish the RCMP agreement with the Ministry of Public Security, [and] bar any data-sharing touching Canada’s diaspora communities, and make continued co-operation conditional on the verified closure of Beijing’s police stations on Canadian soil.”

Pretend harder!

4 years ago conservative commentator Matt Walsh wrote a satiric board book, Johnny the Walrus, about a boy who wanted to become a walrus, so his mother set out to help him become one. Thankfully, the boy’s mom is eventually helped to realize that she’s not helping Johnny, because Johnny can’t ever actually become a walrus.

The parallel was clear, and got liberals upset of course. Just like a boy can’t become a walrus, a boy can’t actually become a girl either, and for the same reason – God decides both species and gender. And pretending otherwise only hurts people, trapping them in delusions to their own harm, and keeping them from reaching for goals that are attainable.

But how do you respond to a good argument, so clearly presented? Some acted offended, of course. But, it turns out, at least one lady just doubled down, with this book below, that largely parallels Matt Walsh’s, except that the boy wants to be a deer, not a walrus… and in the end, after trying and trying and trying, actually becomes a deer. Pretending doesn’t make it so, Matt Walsh? Well, what if you pretend even harder!

Some secular folks try to silence Christians by claiming that our faith is groundless – that it is just make-belief. But this book here highlights what groundless faith looks like. The notion that everything can come from nothing, that the unborn are not alive, that boys can become girls, are all entirely baseless, defying all the evidence. Yet the godless cling on desperately, because to do otherwise – to acknowledge reality as it is – would require them also to acknowledge the reality of their Creator. And the need to bow our knee to Him. But they’ll pretend hard – really, really hard – to avoid that!
