“What then shall we say to all these things?” – Romans 8:31

Scripture reading: Romans 8:31-39

Our study of God is leading us to this point: God is enough. He is all we need. He is adequate. What does this mean? Let’s examine how Paul says it in Romans 8.

First, “if God is for us, then who is against us.” God is enough because He is the believer’s protector. The Father upholds, provides and leads His children and will faithfully do so because it is His covenant commitment. God always keeps His promises. Therefore, the believer can trust in Him and have freedom from fear and panic. They can have strength for the fight.

Second, since God gave us His Son – an incomparably rich gift – surely, He will continue to give us every good thing we need. Believers need not look elsewhere for happiness or meaning. God will surely give believers good works to do and gifts to do them. God will give them eternal life with Him.

Third, God justified us; therefore, who is left to condemn us? No one. God is the sovereign champion and He keeps His children’s life secure. Believers are free from accusation.

Finally, nothing can separate a believer from God’s love. Nothing can happen to a believer that takes away God’s love. Nothing the believer thinks or does takes away God’s love. God keeps His children ever on the receiving end of His divine love. Their cup overflows.

Therefore, God is a believer’s all-in-all. Believers are more than conquerors through Him who loved them. God is enough.

Suggestion for prayer

Believer praise God for being your protector, good gift giver, champion and keeper. Ask God to make these truths core beliefs, to correct any lie you may hold and instead make your heart a highway to Zion.
