Lewis is a pre-teen genius who has been living his whole life in an orphanage, hoping that he can be “chosen” by an adoptive couple. To improve his chances, he builds brilliant inventions… that don’t quite work the way he was hoping. There are explosions, and mishaps, and in the end Lewis, and his buddy Goob, remain in the orphanage still.
But then, at his school’s science fair, Wilbur Robinson, a boy claiming to be from the future, shows up to warns Lewis that someone is going to try to steal his science fair project. Then a creepy man in a bowler does just that! What’s to be done? Wilbur knows. The two of them jump into Wilbur’s time machine and head to the future to meet Wilbur’s family, who are both crazy and fabulous and loving, and Lewis can’t get enough of them.
This is a wild frantic film that takes us all on the roller coaster ride.
Cautions
The biggest concern would be how adopted children might be impacted. Lewis is desperate to find his birth mother, and he, along with his buddy Goob are desperate to be chosen and instead Lewis gets rejected by 124 couples. Related, we see Goob with a black eye, and though we don’t see it, we know it was because he got bullied by the other boys.
Conclusion
I loved this because from one moment to the next I didn’t know where it was going. I hope it does the same for you, and I think it might.
