When Darwin first proposed his theory the inner workings of the cell were largely unknown. Since then we’ve learned that the complexity and intricacy of what goes on in a single cell could be compared to the complexity of what goes on in a city – roadways, and delivery trucks, and factories, power plants, propulsion units and much more. So, rather than this technological age showing that the Bible isn’t true, we are finding more and more reason, as we uncover the many layers upon layers of intricate and interwoven design in the world around us, to acknowledge the creative genius of God. You can learn moare about that at websites such as Creation.com, ICR.org and AnswersInGenesis.org.

As to circular reasoning, we all have it. You believe in logic, but why? Any reasons you might provide to believe in logic are dependent on first believing that we live in a rational world. You can’t argue for reason without first presuming it, and that is, itself, circular reasoning – why would you presume ours is a rational universe? Why would random chance and chaos produce an ordered and logical world? I worship a God of order, and know that this order is a reflection of His Character. But what explanation does the secular world have?

Meanwhile C.S. Lewis once said, “I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else.” Yes, we start with the Bible as our foundation – our starting presumption, but God’s people know God’s Word is true because in our day to day lives, it is validated again and again. It makes sense of the amazing, astonishing, broken, fallen world we live in. God describes humanity as it is and our needs as they are, and offers the only solution that works.

And when we look to what the world knows, we find they can’t explain some basic things that God’s Word does explain. One example: what explanation do you have for human equality? In what way are any two humans equal? A Christian will say, “We are all made in God’s image – that’s what the Bible tells us.” But if you don’t care what the Bible says, what justification can you give for equality? Some people are bigger, some slower, some productive, others creative. The world has to argue for equality being based on ability – women are said to be the equals of men because they can do anything a man can do. But if our worth is determined by our ability, than what of the disabled? They can’t do as much. Does that mean they are not worth as much – that they are not equal to the rest? A Christian can say, “That’s nonsense. Our worth isn’t found in what we can do, but in whose image we are made.” But our technological godless age seems to be saying “If you are not able to do much – if you are very small, say in the womb, or very old, or disabled, then your life isn’t worth much, and that’s why we think euthanasia is a good option.” That’s horrific. But the logical outworkings of a secular world that bases worth on ability. And while the world cannot account for something as basic as equality, God’s people can, because He told us about it in his Word.

When what we know about the world so greatly conflicts with what was written down thousands in a book thousands of years ago, it calls into question why people retain the belief that those words are truly from God. What reason do you have for believing that the Bible is true rather than being told that it is and being brain-washed since the day you were born? If there was one conclusive, probable reason to show that God exists and that what is written in the Bible is true, I would believe, yet in this technologically advanced age, we have not found more proof to support the truth of the Bible; rather, we have found and continue to find more and more reasons to conclude that the Bible doesn’t contain absolute truth.
